well man sealed boxes are good for tight Bass Great for Rock and Roll The Type of Bass that Slaps you in the Back of the head.., Ported Boxes will Give you more output like 2-3 Db More and you get more of a gut Wrenching Bass.., Personally I love Ported for the BIG BASS

Go ported. It gives you deeper low end excursion. As the frequency gets lower there isn't a gradual roll-off like there is in sealed.
As for sealed giving you 'tighter' bass that's BS. Ported can be just as tight, but the box must be built properly.
Ported is best all around (unless you are pressed for space then sealed would be a better use of space)

ported boxes work great in the case of efficiency and output(typically)but in most cases the sealed box will give you more deep bass unless you are tuning your ported box low, but then you sacrifice upper bass response, think of it like this a ported box naturally rolls off at 24db/octave, a sealed box at 12db/octave, a ported box will give you very poor powerhandling below the tuning frequency, meaning a good subsonic filter will be necessary, where in a sealed box you have the advantage of the excursion limiting adavantage of the suspension, amplifier and box, where in the ported you get only amplifier and woofer suspension, having said that if you choose to go ported( perhaps the best method for output) be sure to use a woofer specifically meant for ported(not as many out as there used to be)many woofers out there will work ported but sound like dirt, but give huge output over sealed, at the sacifice of quality, if raw output is what your after its hard to beat ported due to box efficiency and less power needed to annihilate most sealed applications
