I have a sealed box measuring 30" long, 14" high and 15 1/2" deep made out of 1" MDF. I am getting some Image Dynamic IDQ12 D4 V12 (spec sheet: http://www./webs...dq12d4v2.html) The seller said the box would be just a bit too big but good enough. Anyhow I was wondering how would I be ablt to port the box, I was thing on doing a slot port but unsure? Whats easier ahd cheapest? I will be using a MTX Thunder 6500D amp to power these subs if that means anything at all.

I am a total newbie here never buiilt a sub box to specs befor or even made a ported box. Any help would be great!

Photo of the sub box I am talking about.

That box is too small to port properly. Keep it sealed.

I was told that for ported the box needed to be around 3cubic feet, and it is is it now? Each sub needs 1.25 cubic feet....

^ Now there is a line I thought I would never see Dukk not recommending porting!

Kwalsh24 what everyone is saying is the box and the drivers need to be matched. The drivers you are getting (Image Dynamics) are VERY nice but their performance will be optimized only if you put it in the right sized box for porting... not that there is anything wrong with sealed...porting is just louder.

I was just wondering, since I plan to build a new box down the road Could i try putting in a power and see if it sounds better? Curently with the ID's in the box makes the subs sound weird, and i was thinking maybe the box is even too small for sealed (also the box is hollow inside no devider) and putting a port in would allow the air to move....

I suspect you are running on limited funds (as we all are) so Dukks recomendation #2 "or just put one woofer in that one and vent it" seems to make the most of a situation. But for not too much $$ the bigger box is a better plan

Sorry to be so predictable old man...
