Hello,

Just finished my first sub install. I installed an Infinity Basslink( http://www.infinitysystems.com/caraudio/product.aspx?ProdId='BASSLINK+X'&Ser=BSL&Cat=PSU) and hooked it up to my Alpine deck using the subwoofer RCA line outs.

The problem i'm having is that the sub is getting power (the light is on) but its not producing any sound. I've checked all the connections and even tried a different set of RCA cables but there is still no sound being produced. I also checked to make sure that the sub RCA out was turned on in the deck.

Is there anything else I could be missing? Would improper grounding cause this? Tonight i'm going to see if I can find another ground to hook it up to. But i'm all out of idea's on what else could be the problem

wow, never heard of one of these and this is the second one to pop up in 2 days, this guy wanted to add it to his stock system on his jetta..... with the stock deck..... boooooo! Haven't put it in yet but when I do I'll let you know what we come across...

 

Troubleshooting
Power Led is lit but there is no bass

Causes and Solutions:
1:Inputs are not connected. Check connections
2:Head-unit fader control is not set properly. Adjust head-unit fader control to feed audio signals to Basslink

Thanks for the reply. Yup been there and tried that [img]smile.gif[/img] . I just finished connecting to a different grounding area. Now i'm actually hearing some faint sound coming from the sub. So it must be a grounding issue? I'm going to maybe tap a new bolt into the frame and completely strip the area of paint anywhere near the bolt and make sure it has an absolute solid ground. Is there a way to test the ground? Kinda new at all this stuff.

measure the actual voltage at the amplifier... sometimes you will get a crappy fuse that will look ok but is a cold solder inside( assuming you have an AGU fuse)

if you measure less than 12.5volts something is not right... try the ground from the volt meter
to a different place (clean no paint)
how are the crimp connections? loose???


btw..what car is this in?

 

Is there some kind of gain control on the Basslink?

Or, a switch that goes from line level to speaker level?

 

there is a gain on the side, and it's just a 20amp agu and yes there is a switch that goes line level to speaker level.... the guy came in and we had a closer look at it....

I drilled a new ground hole and took a dremel to it to make sure it was completely bare metal. I'm now getting some decent sound out of the sub. And I measured 12.5 volts at the sub.

Over all impression is kinda meh. Anytime I actualy get some good punch out of the sub the "servo" light comes on which according to the docs basically means i'm pushing the sub too hard.

Didn't get a chance to play with positioning it in the trunk yet (btw its a Jeep Liberty i'm installing this in). So i'll play around with that a bit and see what I can muster up.

I figure its not a bad start to my first attemp at aftermarket audio(and a cheap find on ebay). Thanks for all your help, i'll let ya know how the sub performs once I get it properly mounted and played with the settings.

BigBubba, you mentioned that there is a switch that goes line level to speaker level, where did you see this? I only have two switches, one for phase and one for auto on/off.

Maybe in a couple months i'll upgrade alittle [img]smile.gif[/img]
