I know the normal way to ensure a good ground is to completely clean up the metal and bolt the ground wire to that spot.

I was wondering why people don't use something like this grounding block.

Block

Then weld it to the frame or body or wherever you are getting your ground. Would this not reduce the possiblity of a ground coming loose? Does the weld effect the ground?

Seems like a good idea to me, but I have never heard of anyone doing it that way.

Thanks,
Brad

Yes, that particular one is brass, but they make steel ones or plated steel ones. You can grind the plating off and weld those.

So there is no down side to welding your ground to the body?

WD21, I'd like to see what you've done.

Thanks,
Brad

Yes it sure looks cool, but does anyone know if welding a grounding block to the frame/body/chassis is a good idea? Are there any down sides?

Thanks,
Brad
