rca and power cable question..

my rca and ground are installed going through the driver side and the power on the passenger side.

my friend told me it should be the other way around.

does this really matter?

right now i have a bit of whining noise when gasing. not a lot like before but just a little. Before the rca and power cable was going through from the passenger side.

as far as i understand if you are using good pwoer wire and good rca cables that is just a myth.

It is correct to run the power wire and rca's on the opposite sides of the car. My question is why are you running a ground wire from the battery? Why not just find a grounding point in the trunk and make it only about a 3ft run.

It's a good pre-caution, as the current flow in the large power wires can induce EM noise into the RCA cables. If the cables are well shielded and of good quality, it's not usually a problem, but who wants to install and then have to take it back out again because of an induction problem. I've always run them on opposite sides and usually run the rca and speaker wires together on the side with the least number of oem wires as well. The results have always been...absolutely no noise ever on the first running, and in all my installs...so why screw with what works!

Guys... magnetic fields created by DC current flow can't be picked up by our amplifiers... the majority of noise we get in car audio is caused by the alternating magnetic fields made by the alternator....

Hell no, try it first, if it works and there's no noise...why mess with it. Like Haunz says, the amps can't pick up the noise, and he's an electrical engineer or electrician or something in that field, so chances are he knows what he's talking about. I know what's worked for me over the years, so I don't bother messing with tried and true.
