I don't think those subs have great SQ ported anyway, but I'll check tomorrow.
General rule is if Fs/Qes is less than 50 or so, go sealed.
Not always true, but it's a good place to start.

Kinslayer, please note I did mention that "IDEALLY" , that's where a port should be placed, however a car is NOT an ideal place for sound quality. Also the port should not be MORE than half the diameter away, just half diameter.

8 12's should be able to move a lot. .
Be interesting to see if 6 ported can be better.
I have almost no experience with sealed designs.
Is seperating the boxes worth the extra weight?

Matt, why not use a proper speaker terminal plate(5-way binding post) on each sub chamber, that way you can re-configure the wiring, without removing the subs, while keeping each chamber sealed.
I thought it took a troglodite to punch a hole in a sealed box.., I stand corrected.
