Sealed and ported in one trunk?
#1
Someone asked me this and I didn't know how to answer... perhaps someone here can help out with a response.
Can both a sealed and a ported enclosure be shared in a trunk? Say a particular sub is cleaner and tighter in a sealed, but would have more output and "boom" (assuming that's what they desire for certain music) from a ported. Can one sub be placed in a sealed and another in a ported and running together in a trunk?
Or is this just silly? Personally, it sounds silly to me, but looking at home audio speakers, the same driver is applied to various enclosures in one cabinet sometimes.

Dont quote me on this, but I dont think it would really work too well. Probably have cancelation issues and overall it might sound muffled as opposed to a nice clear well blended soundstage.
I could be wrong though.

why not make a box with a port plug instead for both the drivers?
plug the port when you want sealed and take it off and is ported like BAM.
as for your q no it wouldnt work to well...................

Cancellation wouldnt really be an issue IMO... but it is very possible that adding a sealed sub to a ported sub could make the group delay of the ported box worse.... if they are playing the same frequencies....
The catch is that you don't want them playing the same frequencies...
Having say a ported 15 lowpassed at some frequency plus a set of sealed 10's playing over that could work awsome !
