simple logic? not for me . so help me please

I have a 5 channel alpine v12 amp
Specs: RMS 50X4 and 150X1 for 5th channel
My speakers and subs: Infinity components in front (RMS 90)
Infinity coaxials in rear(RMS 60)
Kicker c10 sub (RMS150)

I currently run this set-up with 50watts going into my speakers and they sound nice but they can take more which makes me ponder.
Question;
Since the amp is bridgable, is it possible to bridge channels 1 and 2 together,and channels 3 and 4 together (so i can get 90 and 60 for front and rear respectively) and still have 150 running to the 5th channel for my sub which requires 150RMS.
Or will the bridging take away from the 150 going into the 5th channel?
just to make sure, if i bridge 1 and 2 which are currently producing 50X2 RMS now, they should produce 150X1 RMS, right?(same for 3 and 4)
Also, i have heard a lot about amps drawing too much power from the charging system of the car when bridged.
i have a 98 lexus gs300, do you think bridging this amp to achieve the above set-up will kill my charging system or draw too much from it(i.e start causing dimmer lights when turned up etc)

if it helps, i recently just got a new battery a few months ago and all is fine.

Bridging the front channels will not effect your sub channel. I don't know your amp specifically, however yes, you will get substantially more power to your front stage than you have right now. You should be able to run deck power to your rear fill without an issue.

Bridging should not be an issue with your car whatsoever. Certainly not with the power levels that you are running. The same could not be said if for example you were running an old school cheater amp that is rated at (for example) 25x2 @ 4 ohms (12V) but has an actual output of 750x1 @ 1 ohm bridged (13.4 v). This is a situation where bridging may overload a vehicle if you haven't planned your system correctly.

you can bridge channels to run 1 speaker each....... 2 speaker in parallel per bridged channel is no good... the amp probably isn't too stable at that load and you will loose stereo..... you could try one coax and one component on each bridged channel to see how you like it.... but then you loose the ability to set different gain levels and xover points between the front and rear speakers.... and you will still have the issue of stability/distortion....




I would run the fronts on the 4ch bridged down to 2..... and get some rears to run as mono midbass speakers off the sub ch.... (and buy a real sub amp)

I don't know if thats in your cards but Ive set up more then one 5ch that way and liked the results....

hey

i don't want to add another amp and i removed my stock amp.
so what is the best connection to get the most output from the set-up i have.
5 channel alpine v12 amp

i would like speakers to get more than 50watts which each channel is pushing. The sub channel is fine cos 150 on sub = 150 from 5th channel.

Like mentioned earlier....

Bridge the 50x4 into 2 channels and run deck power to the rears and call it a day.

It is hard to know what the actual bridged power will be based on the information that you gave. If you can give an actual model number, we can find the actual bridged power. Based on the power ratings you gave, 50 x 4 @ 4ohm + 150 x 1 @ 4 ohm, from what I know of Alpine products I assume that the bridged rating will be something like 120-140 x 2 @ 4 ohm + 150 x 1 @ 4 ohm

Now it is important to remember that it is fine to give your speakers MORE than their rated power provided that it is clean, undistorted power. You will damage your speakers quicker by not giving them enough power and giving them distorted power from an amp. So bridging those channels is probably a good choice for you.

However, by bridging those channels you lose the ability to give power to your coaxials. Do not connect the coaxials to the bridged channels because that will drop you down to 2 ohms bridged which the amp cannot do.
The only way to get more power (as mentioned) is to bridge the 4 channels into 2 channels.

So the short answer to the question is:
Yes, you can get more power for your front speakers by bridging those channels
No, your sub power will not be effected
No, you cannot increase power to all 4 of your speakers
No, you cannot bridge for 90 and 60.

You're effectivley making it a 3 ch amp..

Rear is ok off deck power. Or, factory HU if thats what you got.

The thing to be carefull with, now that you have more front power, you need a HPF, so you don't but bass into the front speakers.

I think that alpine might have, hpf

You're right Tom but i'd bet that the Alpine V12 will have sufficient on-board crossovers to deal with this considering that it is a 5 channel. Only point is making sure that the user sets 'em right

Chances are that he's going to be putting around 130 rms (like I said, I'm not familiar with this amp) to his fronts and they're rated at a fair amount less than that if I remember correctly. I'd probably run the HPF around 150hz as a starting point to see how they hold up at higher volumes and adjust from there.

i have already installed the eclipse avn 5695 deck and ran all wires to back through the door sills and i do not wish to uninstall everything to connect the coaxials to the deck.(i don't want to run any speaker to deck).
i want to be able to use all 4 speakers even though some say rear speakers are unneccessary. i spent the time and money customizing them to fit the stock hole. i might as well enjoy them
The amp is an alpine v12 amp with 50X4RMS + 150X1 RMS for sub. (i will check the model when i go downstairs).
is it possible to bridge channels 1and 2 and use them for front speakers (90RMS) and channels 3 and 4(60RMS) for the rear coaxials without bridging. and then 5th channel for sub.so the only bridged ones would be 1and 2 for front speakers.
does this make sense.
