single cab install question for everyone thats done one
hey i was having a wonderous time thinking of where i could mount my amplifier and was wondering if anyone had some good ideas i have an 88 chevy 1500 single cab
Is this a bench seat or buckets? You could do a custom mount between buckets. Some would mount it on the front of a truck box. I don't like mounting amps vertically for cooling reasons. If it's right against the seat heat will build up, and if it's mounted vertically all the heat rises to the "top" of the amp. I'd suggest under seat. If there's enough room you can mount it on some legs to keep it up off the floor and any possible water that may pool.
only thing ive been thinking at the moment is vertically, my amp that i have seems almost designed to go vertically. fans would be at the top pushing air to the roof and wires mounted from the bottom but still i have w8 till i fix my "BENCH" seat first. as the lock for the sliders is broke so the seat moves all the time and is presently outside the vehicle at the moment.
Many times on single cab trucks I'll build the back wall of the sub box the full width of the cab but make the baffle narrower, creating a spot for the amp to bolt to. If you build a vented box and put the port on the side where the amp is, you get free forced air cooling for the amp too
