I have a question about antenna placement. Does it have to mounted on the outside of the car (ie roof or trunk) ro can I mount it on the dash or at the back.

thanx

Depends on the antenna. Most I have seen are "weather proof" & can be mounted outside the vehicle.
In general, antennas can be mounted anywhere as long as they have an unobstructed view of the sky.

I am thiking first to try it on the front dash as that window will never be obstructed with snow, ice etc. I will see how that goes and move it around if need be.

Just wanted to make wheather the antenna has to go on the outside or not.

thanx guys

anytime you head north the metal in your roof will block the signal. we've tried this at or shop a half dozen times thi summer. it hasn't workef for us at all. we've had to move every antenna we've mounted inside cars.

Mount it as high and visible on the car as possible,to get the strongest most reliable signal!

Just to let you guys know... I have installed the Sirius and have mounted the antenna on the front dash near the window and in the GTA or north of the GTA have perfect reception.

Thanx for all sugestions. When I have time to move the antenna to the rear I will do so and that will be a perm location.

Sirius has 3 satelites in the sky and 2 point at North American at all times where as XM has only two and only one points on NA at one time.
