Im going to be adding either small subs or midbass into kick pannels and I was wondering which would be better.

Currently Im running CDT EF61CFi components and the mids are in the doors (I am going fully active soon to give me better control)

My substage is a single ported 13kv2 off of 500-600wrms so it isnt extremely over powering.

I do like SQ but im looking more for SQL. I like my SQ now but I want to get my SPL up a bit. I dont want to change anything else around, but I was looking at either:

1) Adding another set of CDT EF61 mids in a set of kicks.

or

2) TangBand w5-1138sa mini subs in kicks to bring the bass more to the front.

I would like to put my extra RE8s I have laying around in a set of kicks, but theyre just too big it looks like.

What do you recommend?

Thanks!

What exactly do you mean by getting your SPL up?
Is your front stage not loud enough?
Do you lack midbass?
Do you lack bottom end?

Forget the SPL comment, I guess I was being a little too general with that.
It seems to be somewhere in between bass and mid that is lacking. I guess that would be midbass, just not sure if adding another set of mids would get it up around the point where I want to. Im sorry, its hard to explain. Its like the transition point between wehre my mids pick up and my subs leave off and I want to push my low end more to the front.

I will have about 50-75wrms to work with, and Hardwrkr sorry I havent gotten back to you yet, im still trying to get my friend to send payment for that pioneer.

Although I have not heard the EF series from CDT so I don't know how potent their bass response is I can see that they can handle a good deal of power.
How much are you feeding them now and what are you crossover settings?
If it is only 50-75rms then consider more power.

Well right now my amp is bridged pushing around 150 to each side in the set. I meant the ones ill be adding will be getting that power because they'll be on a different amp.

If your front stage is loud enough then I would suggest you not go with a second comp set. It may prove tricky to keep any decent imaging if you do.

I would put those comps you have into a set of kicks and add a dedicated midbass into the doors.

Thats probably the best idea.

Are there any relatively shallow comp sets that dont need loads of power to sound good/get pretty loud?

I have a civic so theres not much room in the doors, right now I have the EFs on a baffle in order to make them fit.

It may depend on your budget but I've been looking at selections from Dynaudio, Morel, and Diamond for shallow depth sets.
At the moment I am using an older Orion 6.5MB which is very shallow and sound quite good if you find some.
The PG Ti6 elite would be a good choice if you have the power (150rms+ per driver).
