Something is Wrong
So I'm driving down the street, listening to my music enjoying the sub I've been listening to for a few months now. All of a suddent my sub kicks out then quickly returns, but a few seconds after it goes out, this time for good. The stereo is still working so I continue listening untill i get home thinking its just a burned fuse somewhere.
I finally check it, fuse in the amp is ok, power fuse is ok, the fuse behind the stereo is ok. On my amp no lights what so ever are on, so I check the remote signal cable to make sure its not broken, the replacement is'nt working either. I also tried replacing the amp with the same one, nothing! Now here is where it gets funny. If i take the remote wire touch it to the positive power cable then put it back on the remote connector, the power comes back on but then fades within 2-3 seconds. All the speackers still work but not the sub. Please HELP!

^ Are you running a glass type fuse on the power wire?
If so..... check it with a test light and see if there's power passing through the out side of the fuse. chances are it usually don't look blown. but it gets desolder where the cap meets the fuse. ( a fairly common problem). just replace the fuse should fix the problem.

do you have a capacitor, sounds like to me that you are charging a capacitor on your remote lead.
then when you touch it back on the amp it powers it up until the capacitor discharges
Just an idea, if you have a cap installed

That was exactly it. Thanks alot! Now when I bought the wireing kit for my car it came with the fuse, blew that one, went back he gave me one that was 15 amps higher then the one i originaly had. Any thoughts there?

I love it when places do things like that... don't try to find out why the fuse blew, just up the rating so that something else fails before the fuse will... great logic.
What was the original fuse rated for? and wht kind of power are you running?
