ok guys, we decided to put my amps in my friends car for the kelowna competition.
we hooked up the mrv-f540 - it worked fine
hooked up the mrd-m1000 - works
put all the installation together, now the f540 goes into protect right after it's turned on.
so i check all the connections, no shorts that i can see on the amp.
i removed the ground, then ran an entirely new ground over to the trunk latch hook. - nothing
disconnected all but the power, ground and remote - no change
ran a new remote lead - nothing
the fuses appear fine.
im stuck guys. help this noob

oh, and when it's turned on, it come up with the blue light indicating power, 2 seconds later the light goes red. and after every 5 seconds or so it tries to turn on again. making the light cycle from blue to red......

its the 4 channel speaker amp
um, if there was a small piece of wire touching both the amp casing and a terminal would that also cause a problem?
disconnected all but the power, ground and remote - no change
Disconnect all the speaker leads and the rca cables, does the amp now turn on? Connect teh rca cbales and test again, then connect one speaker wire at a time and retest each time. Sounds like either a rca cable or speaker wire is grounding out.

sigh. read the posts guys. i appreciate the help but it doesnt get anywhere without reading what i've already tried.
and the speakers are fine, i tested each lead with a multimeter, all reading 4.5-5.2 ohms.
i believe its a short between the speaker terminals on the amp and the amp casing. a little strand of wire is in there, i just cant get it out....
