Exclamation Speaker Level Inputs

Hey I have a 08 cobalt, and would like to keep the stock headunit. I have a kenwood amp and read about the speaker level input harness thing, and think that'd be such an easy install since the battery is in the trunk, and then I could just splice into the speaker wires going to the 6 x 9s. thats the harness, would there be any disadvantages, like causeing damage to the amp or not supplying the 6 x 9s with enough power?

The only problem I can see is whether or not you need to add a remote wire triggered off a switched 12v source. Does the amp use hi input sensing or do you need to use a remote wire?

The manual says when the speaker level input harness is used the remote line isn't needed cause it uses signal sensing turn on. So you think the signal coming from the rear speakers would be completely fine then?

Should be a cake walk. Power, ground and your 2 speaker leads, done

I think you will be dissapointed if you only use rear speakers. You can install 5 1/4 or 6 1/2 in your doors. Up front is where all the stereo effect will be! just like in a home stereo or HT system it is the front that is important. It will be worth the effort to run wires back up front to the speakers. If you onlyh have a 2 channel amp, use it to power the front speakers not the rears!

Zoomer, he is just tapping the rears to get signal for a sub amp ... not amping them
