Here's my next problem with my new amp/components.

The problem is intermittent too. Occassionally when I power down the HU (either by turning it off, or by shutting off the ignition) about 1 -1.5 seconds after the HU is off there is a thump in my components. I haven't found any correlation between when it does it and does not do it.

I checked the amp and when the HU powers down the amp powers down too, so the remote wire seems to work right.

Any ideas?

how many components do you have
i would first try disconnecting the remote on into the amp while the deck is on
to see if its that amp or the deck

I'm already using aluminum foil to connect the remote wire to the terminal, the wire was 2 inches too short so aluminum foil bridged the gap . . .

Pinhead - Good idea. I think I will wire a toggle switch into the remote line this weekend and play with that (unfortunatly the problem is somewhat random).

i would then install the switch then always turn the car off before turning the deck off

Not following you on that one.

I like having the deck wired to the acc. line of the ign. so I never have to think about turning it off.

I was planning on placing the switch on the remote line from the deck to the amp so I could switch the amp on and off while the HU stays on constantly. This way if the thump still occassionally occured, I would know that it came from the amp powering down not from the HU.

What exactly were you suggesting I do, and what would I discover from that method?

Thanks
