Stock Dodge system question

does anyone have any experience with the dodge stock systems, specifically for a 2012 caravan? i've noticed that my stock system is heavily eq'd towards bass (not in a good way). i've turned this down in the stock eq settings but i'm not fully happy with the way it sounds. i'd prefer a much flatter sound. i'm not sure if the extra bass comes from the speakers or the stereo (i'm leaning towards the stereo). i don't want to change the stereo as it has all sorts of other functions i'd like to keep but if the extra bass is from the speakers than that's an easy fix.

thanks in advance.

Many manufacturers, and for sure Dodge, like to incorporate a 'loudness' type circuit in their headunits that boosts the bass at low volumes and then reduces it at higher volumes. The best fix is a Cleansweep from JL but you will then need amplifiers for all speakers.

so the best way to correct this would be to get an aftermarket head unit? would there be any more neutral tone at all if i swapped to aftermarket speakers? i'd rather keep the stock head unit.

Often by changing to aftermarket speakers in a modern car there is a reduction in midbass/bass but whether that is going to sound better or not I can't say.
