Stock tweeters and 6x9's not working...new HU

Hi just put in new HU, and im pretty sure i have all the correct speaker wires, but anyways, i have all the wires hooked up according to the wiring schematics i got off the internet. but ill turn my car on, the HU will power up, and have the usual display and stuff. but no sound from the speakers...???
anyone???

Well thats pretty vague. You turn up the volume? What kind of car? Amp involved?just a head unit replacement?

yea i turned up the volume, nothing happened...1992 ford crown vic. yes just a HU replacement.
cut the factory harness coming from the cars end, so its a free for all with the wires. lol

u likely have a factory amp and didnt hook the remote wire for it... i did this yrs ago in myn93 mercury cougar lol

hmm. thanks. ill try it.

that wouldnt be my power antenna wire would it??? becuase i thought that was supposed to go to my external amp to power a sub...meh. i dont know much bout this stuff. but its worth giving a shot.

yes you have a factory amp that you have to power up. either that or run new wires to all speakers from your HU(better idea to do this). I've found out the hard way that in situations such as yours, where you are unfarmilliar with the wiring, that it is usually just easier to spend the 10 bux for a direct plug in harness. However, since you've gone this far, you might as well run new speaker leads, you will get a better signal to your speakers than thru the factory amp anyways. good luck.

cool thanks. i think this is pretty obvious but just checking... you need to have a 50x4 HU if you have 50w speakers eh?

More like 8w per speaker, if you want 50 genuine watts per speaker invest in an an entry level 4 channel amp and a pair of good RCA's.

Why? To save $10 on an adaptor? dumb.

Find the plugs and put them back on and go buy a harness adaptor.
