Is this sub and box o.k. for each other?
http://vault.alpine-usa.com/products..._SWX-1243D.PDF
theres my sub's specs.. check the right hand side.. page 3 under ported specs
http://www.bassworx.com/downloads/08...re%20Specs.pdf
theres my box:
Look at HPR12
I guess the sub and box are okay for each other,
I can't really afford to get a custom box made.
What kind of LP, DB and Gain should I put for that setup..
the amp is a Alpine M.1000

you can afford a 120$ box but you cant afford to buy 85$ of mdf and screws and wood glue to make one that will be perfect for it????
the hpr box has port noise. and i dont like the sound that comes out of that box. i know i have to work with these dam prefabs
as of seting the amp its up to you. subsonic on if you have it LP at 65 to 80hz depending on how you like it and gain is up to your ears.
crank the system till its loud enough for you than bring the gain up till it distorts ( clipping ) then just bring it down a tad till its clean and there you go

it's fine..alpine asks for 1.8 gross...1.3 net, tuned to 28 hz, and your's is 1.6 gross...probably about 1.1 net tuned to 40 hz. Does it sound good to you? It's perfectly safe for the sub, and should sound decent, and get loud enough with reasonalbe power. Those type X subs are a little lazy though, so give them lots of juice!

I don't have the guts to max it out and I guess I shouldn't since its new but **** she POUNDSSSSS like my ears hurt lolol the gain is set to NORM lol
I can't imagine someone having two of those.. but the capacitor holds up well and the amp + sub just sounds amazing..
big difference from my fosgate system I had.. I think it was a 600watt rms one.

wattage ratings on subs has absolutely nothing to do with how loud they can play or how they will sound. All thatrating is for is to tell you how much heat the voice coil ca dissipate. It's far far too widely used and accepted by the general populace as the go-to spec when buying or judging sound equipment. When it truth it is such a minute factor in the performance of equipment. Specs like "sensitivity" and "Frequency Response" will give you a better clue as to how something will perform. Then the box plays the next biggest factor.
