Hey, having trouble with my sub/amp after putting in the new deck. With the deck on and volume turned on or off, the sub won't stop making noise(not the sound of the music, a constant dum dum dum dum. I tried a new rca, and speaker cables, didn't change anything, amp is obviously getting power, but could it still be a problem with the power or ground? Any help appreciated. Cheers.

Try a different ground for deck, its probably the deck cause it was fine before the change right?
What kind of deck? new or used etc...

 

No dice, new ground for deck and still the same noise.

 

Pull the RCA from the amp... is there noise if no the noise is from HU or RCA ... if yes check the amp

if it is from HU/ RCA reconnect RCA to amp and disconnect RCA from HU... if no noise the the HU is the noise source

 

Did you start out with your amp gain at the lowest level when you installed the new deck? Or is it set where it was when the old headunit was installed?

 

RCA signal ground is in contact with chassis ground......

if it's not in the wiring you could have a bad deck.....

 

The gain is still the same as with the old deck. Sorry, what do you mean by rca ground in contact with chassis ground?

 

I had a similar problem like this at one point. You might want to consider unplugging your RCAs, turning your head unit on and plugging them back in. It is possible that your head unit or amplifier is trying to ground through them as well. if not, I would think that it is some kind of electrical interferance from a nearby power wire. Double check to see that they are as far as possible from each other at all points. (I know with mine they come near each other close to my sub amp.)

What happens when you turn the gain down?

 

... look this effort has to be done first, you dont know where the problem is neither do we... find the problem component then we can truly not guess at the problem, we can make assumptions from what you have done... but this makes more sense

also I am guessing the same as Haunz
