Subs Aren't Working...

Okay, I got my system all hooked up, and when I went back to double check all my wiring to the subs/amp, I realized that one of my subs wires had came undone from the back of the box, so I put it back in and twisted it tight. Then, when I turned on my car to make sure it all worked, the subs sounded soooooooo bad. So I disconnected one of the subs, and then all of a sudden the other one started pounding, and it sounded awesome. Yet when I touched the sub wire to the terminal on the amp, it mad both subs sound like sh*t again - I don't know if my amp isn't powerful enough, or somethings wrong with my wiring. It's not bridged (I dont know how). I just have '-' to '-' and '+' to '+' (ie. '-' on sub #1 is on '-' on amp channel #1) . any help is great..thanks.

It sounds like you have one of the subs in reverse polarity. Take both wires off ONE of the drivers and reverse them. Now having said this I dont know which one is right or wrong. The best way to do this is hook up one sub first and check it to make sure it is pounding outwards if its not reverse the wires. Now once you have this one moving in the right direction hook up the second one. If it sounds like crap again reverse the wires on that driver. As you may have a wire switched inside the box. Now both should be moving in the proper direct and in unison.

Sorry, but what's a 'driver'? Is it where the sub wires are plugged into the back of the box, or where they're plugged into the amp? Or, maybe somewhere COMPLETELY different

Lightbulb

Driver is another term for a speaker.

As stated, you have one speaker with the + and - backwards. Pick one of the speakers and swap the + and - wires. It really doesn't matter which speaker you do this too.

lol, yes you've all been here. It's because of people like you that people like me become people like you. In other words, if that made no sense whatsoever, without you smart car-audio enthousiasts, us newbies wouldnt get as much knowledge as we get. So thank you, lol. As for switching the wires, my battery went dead again so i'll have to wait until i get a boost again - hopefully it works!
