so my car broke down the other so i punched in my deck cause the alternater went and i know it was cause of the stereo but anyways
now today i bought a clarion deck and while i was there i bought a 10" sony explod cause it was cheap so i hook it up and the deck runs the speakers fine but the subs dont really work even if its just running the kickers or just the explod but other wise it all works great but what could this be??? tried withh other amps too and still same thing what could this be??? i have no clue at all some times the subs will works but only briefly

Well, if you've tried more than one amp and it's doing the same thing, then it's likely either a power issue (not getting a full 12 volts to the amp) or it could be a problem getting the audio signal to the amp (check RCA cables). If neither of those solutions work, just punch it.

 

What have got for equipment and how is it wired? This would be somewhat of a start.

 

Personally when I read this, the first thing that comes to mind is the sub woofer output control, Usually on newer decks they give you a separate volume for the sub, and its usually set conservatively!! Or, I have had this problem as well, Try a different set of RCA's, it could be just getting a poor signal(meaning 1 rca could be crap)and it is compromising the signal on the amp(I'm assuming its in bridged or mono mode)

 

yeah the wiering is stinger 8 guage and the rca's didnt reach to the new deck cause the old one had them hanginng out this one didnt so i bought some small ones like extenders but they look really crappy so i will take the deck out and plug it into the rca with out the extenders and hope that that works cause when we we driving my friend was palying with them and it would make the subs start to work i only used the extenders cause i didnt wanna have to put the interior all aprat in winter cause the carpets all gross and wet but ill try that thanx for the help

 

i took out the extender on the rca's but then still nothing abd when the car reved up it made a whistle noise that got louder with the rpms? and i unpluged it and it was fine what is wrong here?

 

ooh and one more thing when i had it hooked up with a infinty amp the protection light would flash and start going crazy even when it was turned down? and another light i for got what it was cause it was my friends amp but they would go crazy? is there something messed up with my wiering maybe? like power wire shot i hvae no idea whats wrong please help

Spend the money and take it to a shop. They will look at your wiring and sort things out. Money well spent if its a good shop and they know how to troubleshoot

 

yeah thats what i think im going to do because its to much of a hassle but at visions they told me they wont do it for me ? because if it doesnt work or sumthing they can be held liable? i dunno but it just sucks but thanx for the help
