I was wondering how you guys attach your trunk lid pieces? Do you use screws through the metal or is there any other method im not thinking of?
Also how do you think it would look if I had a piece of carpet or vinyl cut out and then glued it to the underside of the trunk lid and had the edges folded over and sewn to give it a clean look? Im not sure if I really wanna fiberglass my trunk lid as I have nothing really to put on it but I hate looking at deadening. |
If you have MSN I have a PDF file I can send you to modify the way your trunk lid hinges so you won't see the under side. It costs under $20 to do and takes less than 1 hour to finish. It looks pretty trick IMO.

Is that the horizontal trunk lid mod? Uses a pair of door hinges?
That can look pretty good when open but it can also look pretty bad when closed. I'd be careful to make sure it's reversible or that the lid can lock to the arms |
I have heard bad things about the "flip-flop" trunk mod. Some people say that the trunk never sits right when you close it? IF you have a way to modify it while maintaining the stock look when closed im interested:).

gimme your msn or e-mail and I will send it.
JRace you already got mail. Use stainless steel marine hinges and they will stay tight. Have the latches powdercoated to prevent rattles and to ensure a tight fit. |

Screws are preferred as adhesive is either permanent or it lets go over time.
Lethal - can you shoot me that too dukk@hotmail.com Scarlemthug - yeah I would think that with the arms pressing up on the lid when closed and no solid attachment between the two that the front edge would lift. Seems to be the case in some photos I have seen. I would add a bracket to secure the lid tight to the arms when not in 'show mode' |
Scarlemthug & Dukk....you have mail.
