Two subs of similar RMS ratings on the same amp?

I have 2 subs: a 12" 350W RMS JVC, and a 12" 300W RMS MBQUART. They both have dual 4 ohm voice coils and are wired to 2 ohms. My main question is: Will it be beneficial to run both of them in parallel on my mono amp as opposed to running just one sub? My amp is an Audison LRX 1.1k and is stable at 1 ohm loads.

Also, will I even be able to hear the weaker one?

Edit: They'd both be in the same box.

bad idea all around...don't mix different subs, and if it's output you want...just use 1 sub in a ported box.

X2, bad ideas for everything. Sell those two subs, and buy a 1000W sub to put in a ported box.

Didn't sound so good when i put two of different type subs in the same box. I would go with two of the same.

Well, I had talked to the install tech at my local car audio shop and he said I would just be overpowering one and underpowering the other slightly. He said that it should work fine, so could I have some details regarding why this might be such a bad idea?

If I was really going for loudness, wouldn't 2 500w subs be much louder than 1 1000w? I know there is a 3 db gain by having twice the air movement.

I am thinking the power difference and the way air is moving in and out of the ported box(different volume from the under powered sub). Wish I had more info but thats a s far as my knowledge goes.

No,

eg: one sub is moving 2" vs two subs moving 1"

2 subs on 500w each should theoretically have a 3db advantage over one of them on 1000w.

Doubling the power to a speaker does not double it's excursion or output.

BUT - mixing subs is a bad idea.
