Upgrading Alt wire fusing question
alright i managed to get to the alternator in a 99 civic 4dr lx. now i can see the positive post as its covered by some black rubber boot . THis is the postive output right? What i notice is that the wire currenlty coming off it doesnt directly go to battery. It goes to something else, then battery, then fuse box. As stated in the BIG 3 at sounddomain the upgrade tells it me to go from ALT + Directly to battery. The local audio store never mentioned anythign about fusing this wire. BUt i just read somewhere that i SHOULD be fusing it. I wanan know from someone else if this should be fused or not.
I did the same thing with 4guage wire, Under the black boot is the alternator output attach a wire to that then directly to your positive terminal on the batterie. i didn't fuse this wire. Its just for safety, if that wire eery gets sniped or grounds out somewhere your batterie could blow or damage your alternator. If you worried about it just throw a fuse for the capacity of the wire. you should be fine
i wasrnt gonna remove anything but i just wanted to add additional wiring i will do so and add a 100A fuse with AGU fuse holder i have 100A AGU fuses tho.....also when upgrading this wire is it reccomened to disconnect the batt to chassis until im done upgrading.

the only times the fuse would ever comes into play, is if you REVERSE BOOST, or if the rectifier fails and dead shorts the stator.
other than that ,THE FUSE DOES NOTHING
if you feel a fuse is a must, than add a 100amp anl(wafer) between the battery and alternator in conjunction with your stock(existing) wiring.
i dotn have a ANL 100A fuse holder but i have a AGU fuse with some 100A AGU fuses......yes they are 100A lol weird i know but i thought they didnt make em past 80A but guess some do.... i will upgrade it hopefully this weekend.
