upgrading alt
Hi all,
there is a 250amp alt for sale here and i am wondering if it would be big enough for my needs. i still have the factory one on my 04' chev avalanche..
i am having the sub installed soon which would put me over 2000watts rms. i have done the big 3 in 0 guage already and will be adding a second batt (hopefully this summer)..
let me know ur thoughts and ideas guys
thnx

Sounds like enough ... I mean realistically, you don't have to change a damn thing. I didn't, plugged in 5k with 2 runs of 0 Gauge with 2 batteries and it was fine. Slowly though, you'll be cooking that alternator ... And when I finally had a larger upgrade installed, I watched my voltage go up significantly with no dimming ... Ever.
I def. recommend that upgrade if you can afford it. Make sure it fits though, mine was almost too big even though it was a direct bolt on, supposedly.
