MTA - finally an answer that makes sense, yet I choped the wires and I did all the wiring (after a few beers) - that explains everything, I'll double check cabling.

Also you could try checking the polarity of the subs vs the front stage. It may help but the problem sounds depper then that.

Just FYI, preouts were screwing up my speakers at the higher volume. Deck is at the shop getting fixed.
