I have 4 gauge wire for my power wire (from battery to cap/distribution block), and ground wires. Coming out of the distribution block, there is 8 gauge wire going to the 2 amps.
At what power level would I need to upgrade these wires?

When your total current draw is over 125 amps.

To find the total current draw, would I add the fuses that are in my 2 amps? (eg 40amp fuse in one amp and 80 amp fuse in the other = 120 amps)??

Fuses can be up to 100% higher than the actuall current draw, especially if the amp is running mids. If you have a 40 amp fuse on your mid amp, it's probably only drawing 20ish, and if you have 80 on your sub amp its probably drawing 60ish. In other words 4 gauge is fine

My XTR900 draws 50-53 amps, using shop testing equipment. It has two 30 amp fuses.

^^^^Freaking heck....I'm glad I didn't answer.

But, if you do a search on capacitors, you'll find a nice explaination from Dave Mackinnon that uses Joules, watts, and amps.
