Question Wiring Assistance

Hi ya,

Am a noob and I need some help installing my Amp into my BMW E46 3-series. All I need is how do I connect it so that it turns on when the car ignition is turned on. It has got two wires which when I connected to the battery + and - terminals turned it on, but I want to turn it on only when I turn the ignition on.

Thanks in advance,
Siddu

You need a 12v feed from the accessory wire connecting to the amp rem terminal.

Whats the model of your amp?

Thanks for getting back to me and like I told ya am a nnob what is this accessory wire, what does it do and how do I identify it. My Amp (Alpine MRP-F300 4-Channel Amplifier) has not got any remote wire (Might be removed by the person who sold me) and the HU is sony Xplod if that helps any?

#5 +ve 12 volt (must have an inline 50 amps fuse)

Is the hu already installed and connected?

Can you take a picture of the amp's wiring and post it here so I can see?

The way it works is that the accessory wire(red) goes to your hu, so that when the key is in the acc or on position the hu can be turned on, hence, powered. Now once you turn on the hu, it then sends a signal to the amp to turn it on.

Now, on the wire harness that comes out of your hu there should be a blue/white wire which is your remote turn on, and this should be connected to the amp remote turn on lead (#4 in the diagram above).

IF the amp is working with only 2 wires comming out, then there must be a jumper between terminal #4 and #5, remove this jumper, and connect the blue/white from your hu to terminal #4 on your amp.

For the 2 wires on the amp, +ve goes to #5 and -ve goes to #3.

Follow the diagram above in post #4

Hi Sonic,

Am attaching the pics of the wire loom of my HU, I dont see any remote-on wire coming from this. All I can see are a Yellow (Cont power supply), Black (Ground), Blue(Power Antenna) and Red (Switched power supply).

The red (switched power suppy) can work as your amp remote turn on lead but sometimes it induces noise, a way around that is to use that to turn on a relay and use a tapped line from your amp +ve to go through the relay feeding your amp rem terminal.

I am surprised you dont have a remote turn on wire on that hu, can you post the model number of the hu?

The model is Sony Xplod CDX-GT24 and I've attached the pdf for reference.

so, do you want me to cut the redwire and connect it to Amp first and then from Amp to HU?
