Wiring a Dual Voice Coil Sub?

I have a Dual Voice coil JL Audio 10W3V2 and im not sure how to wire it up to a amp? eventually I was going to hook it up to a Eclipse xa1200, but for now im gonna hook it up to a old 1000 watt kenwood i have laying around....not sure how to hook up the dual crap tho. Ive seen a diagram with the negative hooked to the positive & the other positive & negative going to the terminal....sorry im new to this

You need to know the impedence ( in OHMS) of the coils on the sub and the impedence of the amp you want to run them on.

That eclipse is good to 2 ohms. With a dual voice coil sub, you'd want dual 4 ohm voice coils wired in parallel to acheive a 2 ohm load.

If they are 2 ohm coils, you'll be stuck at 4 ohms wired in series (1/2 the power) because the eclipse cannot do 1 ohm stable wired in parallel.

Here's my favorite site to learn the wiring.

The sub has dual 4ohm voice coils. So I could run the sub parrellel to the eclipse amp to make 2 ohms? Would that be the best set up? I want to push the sub to full potential

Yes, wire the sub in parallel. + to + to the + on the amp, - to - to - on the amp.
