Wiring the ground for 2 amps
Wiring the ground for 2 amps
I will be installing 2 amps. I have the power wire figured out but have a couple of questions about grounding:
1. Do I need a grounding block to receive the grounds from each amp and then to ground... Or can I just run both amp grounds to the same ground point without the block?
2. I've heard everything should run to the same ground. So should I run the ground from the deck all the way to the common ground I'm using for the amps? It seems like this would then have to be a very long wire, and I thought grounds should be short.
thanks.

1). no need for the block, it wont hurt them either, but i cant see why it would improve anything. If you have one on you, use it, if not, i wouldnt bother
2). ive never heard this before, it really doesnt make sense to me either, grounds should be short.

no you dont have to ground your deck to the same spot nore your amps that i no of i have a 90 cavi and a mini van my grounds are both in dif spots and the deck is grounded in the factory harness in the dash i'v never had a prob with noise or anything so you should be ok
Everything should all be grounded to the same location: the - terminal of the battery
The whole car is grounded, so it doesn't matter where you ground each thing to, it all goes back to the negative on the battery. Ground anywhere you wish provided that it is clean, bare metal that is directly anchored to the chassis.

To make it easier to go to one point there is a cool piece available... http://www.streetwires.com/products/default.aspx?grp=58 just an option to keep the wiring nice.
All wires should be as short as possible.
