I have a customer that had bought a XM reciever off us and his reception outside the city is horrable. after changing the ant and trying different positions it still sucks. When he gets outside of the city the units signal drops to zero.

is the ant inside or outside the car. and if he is only getting the free channels then he needs to pay for XM the ant cant be blocked/underneath metal or some window tints place the ant in the center of the car on the roof in the center and go for a drive and see if that helps and call XM and make sure that the customer is paid up to date...

what city do you live in because xm relys on terrestial towers for there repeaters like cellphones to get alot of there signal so if your in a mountian area you could be getting blocked by the satalie but in town you could be picking up a tower

Try swapping antenna again Sounds like the tuner is only getting the terr part of the signal which is a seperate lead from the sat signal.

Just take a unit out of another box. Listen to the xm preview station and mount the antenna on the roof loose through the window. If it works, hook the unit up to the existing antenna. This should tell you if its the unit or not
