1080i upconversion
So what are some of the (exuse the name) Fat wacker DVD players out there that have this feature.( 1080i upconversion) So far I know of the Samsung & LG. have herd great reviews from the Sound obsession Boys on the LG , but what else is out there ? I now eventually everyone will probably have it.
Wait for a month or two as there will be a whole bunch of them available for a lot cheaper.
Megehurtz,
A normal progressive scan DVD player is capable of a max 480 progressive lines displayed. These DVD players will upconvert to 1080 interlaced lines for display on HDTV's.

technically yes, cause it was recorded in normal TV mode I guess you could call it, it would be prob more crisp but nothing majorly noticeable, you can download for Windows Media 9 these HIGH DEF 1080 video's/demo's and they look amazing on a normal tv even though it's not HD or actual 1080i... if companies wanted to they could record in higher quality without the need for HD but then they wouldn't be making money if they did that.....

Well, there is a new DVD format coming that will be widescreen and fill all the space on a widescreen set...
And the 1080i DVD players have not been out for long so the one you got a year ago is not 1080i it most likely is 480i and 480p only... not to be rude...
