the movie was great, saw it when it came out. Acutally a movie that i would buy...legit one

 

I found the 1962 version thru Torrentspy. It took about a week to download for me, not many are sharing it. I have also seen the '62 version for sale in HMV now also. I think some remakes are good and well other that should never have bin done. I think its the companies that dont have nothing else better to do and they think they can redo a old movie and make more money in doing it.

I read some where for the new movie it took only 60 days or so to make and the rest is all cgi. Sure the new 300 is a good movie but if anyone saw the orginal and then saw the new one. I think some would be cunfused, on teh story line. The '62 characters have bin changed compaired to the new one and some of the plot also. I guess they had to make the new one spiffier and show some ***** to make some money

 

Haha, I keep forgetting we are canadians here and it is not illegal to DL music/movies!

It's not LEGAL to pirate movies and music here...they just don't prosecute us like they do in the states.

It is currently legal to download music. It is illegal to share music. So when you download a song you are not breaking the law but the person who is letting you download from their computer is.

keep in mind guys that this version is based on a comic book, and is told through a story teller to others who are imagining the story. This is Frank Miller's way of creating a fantastical account of a historic event. It's not meant to be historically accurate, at least the battle portion anyway. Miller was very specific in his interview, as was the director, that they wanted a fantasy epic based on history...this allows for the giant creatures, a 10ft tall xerxes etc...If you want history, there's a channel for that!
By the way, I loved it!!!

I could care less if it was based on a stupid comic book or not. I still enjoyed the '62 version more. And it goes to show how people try to make a buck nower days also. Find something in history that might be interesting and hey lets make a comic book about it, then in so many years, hey lets make a movie about teh comic book to make even more money. Blah blah blah. Its only a matter of time before someone is willing to make about Hitler and his ways and then some one might have the ***** to make a movie based loosey on the comic book. But remember its from a comic book not real life events

 

Frank Miller should keep to writing comic books, not making movies about epic historical events.
Trying to turn such a pivotal point in history, into a fantasy epic.., fantasy is one thing which this movie is, but it's far from EPIC.
I'd say of this movie, something got lost in the fantasy..,an Oscar nomination.
I agree with beater truck, I think the 1962 version is closer to an epic than this movie will ever hope to become.
I understand that it took very little time to shoot this movie, and with a very small budget, it shows.
If you got to see this movie, I'd suggest taking an illegal substance to help your imagination..,or fall asleep.
Sorry to sound so negative, it just turned me off to spend my hard earned money on a low quality film.

 

I'm surprised my friend at how much you disliked the movie. I went with the Mrs on Monday and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Of course, I went in with the view that it was not supposed to be an accurate historical accounting of events.

IMO they did a great job in showing it as 'historical folklore' with it being told as a story, the exotic characters, loose timelines, etc.

I'd buy it
