Everyone I have spoken with about this says that a 350 is worth the extra $$$ and effort over a 305. Better power, about the same fuel economy and a better motor overall. Either motor would make an Acadian fly though. I agree with Dukk though, grab a 350 block and a 400 crank and you've got yourself a 383 stroker.

How long have you been in Peterborough Z?
About 8yrs ago there was a fully tubbed Chevette with a 454 in it driving around there. I was behind it on George St. one night and to tub a Chevette it makes them look really tippy and skinny because the tires have to be so far inside the fenders for them to clear. Fast though.....

I would suggest looking for a block casting that has a HIGH NICKEL content to it.

A hi nickel content block has more strength that your average run of the mill block and can take a better overbore.

When you get up in dispalcements, the cyclinder walls get thinner. So I would choose a hi nickler 350 or 327 depending on the year of the engine. late, late 60` to early seventies are the best bet. Back it up with a nicely shift kitted turbo 350 or 2 speed powtrglide tranny, add headers,a good exhaust system then a valvetrain and cam combo, then look at intakes and either carbs or EFI workings.

Right now I am pulling a BB buick 350turbo 400 to put in my 76 Nova Racecar. Been racing King of the Hill with the wifes 87 Camaro 305 5 speed and doing okay with it, but it needs a POSI and some rings and valves badly.
