Tire talk on 4x4 forums is kinda like "What amp is good?" on CCA.
It all depends on what your doing. Muddin, trails, rocks, snow, a little of everything.
I don't get into "serious" off roading but I do like to go for a rip on some forest service roads, in and out of fishing lakes, and the occasional mud hole. I have BFG All terrain TA's on my Jeep GC and they seem to work fine. They aren't horibbly loud on the highway either. If I was looking to get a little more aggressive, I would probably stay BFG and do Mud terrain's. Although I like the looks of the new Goodyear Wranglers. Very beefy.

Ahhhh, the Wrangler MTR is a awesome tire. I got 92000 km's (4 years) on my last set of them. I use 315 75 16's on the road train. They are used on all surfaces from getting firewood, hauling rock, snowplowing and general highway use. They don't howl bad at all for such a large tire and they have taken an enormous amount of abuse as well. They are not a cheap tire by any means and they took forever to get here but they are well worth it.
