Teri. Look into early 90s imports. They have a track record of being very reliable and all the imports in the junkyards here have 300,000 kms + on them. Look at Accords, Corollas, Civics..for a couple grand, you shoudl be able to find a decent import car for that.
BAH! Those old rabbits have the WORST bodies EVER!
We've had a couple and they go completley to ****. And all of the older vw's just have complete butt fugly interior.
My dad likes them that's why we've had so many of them (2 rabbits, 2 cabriolets, 2 jettas) and I hate them all!
Always break down, ugly and slow, ewwww I'd say just buy a Honda if you want reliability.

My 83 Rabbit was one of the fastest cars I have ever owned. I regularly blew away Camaros and Mustangs with it. Light, fast and handled awesome! The body was awesome, cops ignored it, It fit alot of stuff in it, and looked great with euro bumpers. Of course style is subjective.

For some newer Golfs if you want a newer car. All the cars are from Ontario.

Ya dereck I agree they looked pretty ok from the outside, but our verison were the convertibles, and damn those vinyl roofs ont hem must be the worst **** ever! As they usually didn't last too long.
But the interior, man...just horrible.
We have an 83 rabbit in the driveway right now, I will take some pics of the interir when I get a hold of a digi cam just to show what I mean

Hey Z24 gurl...Team 8 Track here....
The 88 to 90 Z24 all had the same interior except for a few minor thing(Needle or Digital guages, tilt steering/not,etc)
The only major difference in the 90 models was the chnage up to the 3.1 and the seatbelts were then placed in the door....
For him to say has 90 interior...no kidding...
Even my RS has the same dash and upolstry as the Z's...The dash is refered to as a custom dash...
I say pass on it...needs way to much work...and maybe more that you dont know of..

worst part about the rabbits is that the newest one is 20 years old add to that canadian weather (winter with salt) most of them are rot boxes.... i haev been through 2 of them now working on a rabbit pick up
also have a cabbroilet (same as rabbit)
another bad thing about the rabbit is some parts are becomming a wee bit harder to find, i think canadian tire only stocks for cars that are 10 years old ???

$1,200 is too much to pay for a Cavalier. Scoop a Corsica if you like GMs ... they're cheap and reliable (get a 2.0 or 2.2L one). If you can find on in Red/Burgandy (whatever), it's the only color that doesn't peel off of em.
$1,200 is WAY too much for that car. But, if you get it, I have a set of Sensatracs I can sell you
