yah but a good example of the bad fans/bad blood is whats goin on OFF the ice for the sens n the leafs. The tshirts, the jersey bans, domi n his wife beating they took it a bit to far.

If my team ends up getting knocked out like every other year, I like to go for the Under dog, I.e The ducks from last, this year if they can do it would be nice to see Nashville go on if they can pull it off, other than that I can't really see anyone else I want to win....I am content with any other team other then Detroit just caues of Joseph would look good on him....

For sure! I love canada, and canadian hockey...heck I don't mind some of the american teams too. However, when it comes to Canadian fans, we have a bad reputation! Rioting when our teams don't win, booing the American anthem, how childish! There's nothing more fun than getting all rilled up over your team, of fostering a wicked rivalry with another, but the fans cross the line. Next thing you know the european hooligans will be looking at us and saying "what a bunch of animals!"

I am so happy to see how the anthems turned out in Boston. The Bostonians did not Boo our anthem....they cheered it. Props to the people of Boston for showing that they have more class than the people of Montreal. It showed class AND is embarressing to the people who booed the anthem.

Yah booing the national anthem is a no thats to much. Last game I went to in the ACC people were booing it and wouldn't take their hats off but when the Canadian anthem came on the hats went off. thats to disrespectful

All of this talk about hockey is crap. The sport should be long over by now anyway. If there is no longer ice on the ground, a sport on ice should be out of season

Besides the whole being a sports fan thing is useless "My favourite team is . . . " Oh yeah well my favourite team is . . . and your team sucks!" Getting defensive about a team is pointless - you are not your favourite team, you have no affiliation with that team why get bent out of shape about it? The whole sports team mentality blows my mind - it is purely vicarious living. Isn't there enough exciting stuff happening in your own life? Why do you need to live vicariously through the acheivements of some guys you don't know and haven't met? Really, in the end, after the season is over and you've spent hundreds of hours watching the games, really, what have you accomplished? Nothing - its a pointless pursuit. Just trying to kindle a few new fires

LOL, it's true in a way, hockey is a winter sport...not a spring and early summer sport. Unless you live in Nunavut.

Yes, I agree. We're just fans. We don't know these players personally. There's no personal benefit gained by idolizing hockey and trying to affiliate ourselves with it. To watch a game is entertaining, and even more so to play for the fun of it as a group. But I never got the idea of being so hyped with a professional team to the point of well...yeah.

I guess there's the superfluous ego boost that comes with being a fan. Come to think of it, "fan" as a word is short for fanatic. But as mentioned, there is really no point to going beyond watching the game and seeing how things go.

^^Yup! Exactly what I was saying. To watch it for entertainment is cool - But to be pissed off because you missed a game because you had some family time with your wife and kids is stupid and indicates a problem with priorities.

Playing the game on your own is awesome. That is real living, not vicarious! It is a tonne of fun, good social time with friends, you can work on personal skills (coordination, speed, agility) and you get some good 'ole fashioned exercise.
