any Apple Mac literates here?
I have a G4 dual processor desktop Mac. It has PCI bus. I am told that I cannot purchase a PCI wireless card from say D-Link or Linksys but MUST purchase an Airport card. Is this true - has no one written a Mac driver for the cheaper PCI wireless cards?
thanks

Check the OSXHAX site.
There was a way to edit the AppleAirPort2.kext/Contents/Info.plist file to get a Linksys WPC54G Cardbus adapter, but its only if you have an Airport Extreme already so that might defeat teh purpose.
Heres a link for more info.

Another good option is to check out Orangeware's 3rd party driver which claims compatibility. This is probably your best option.

You can download the demo from here.

Check the torrents if you're looking for the full version, unless you want to buy it. (both fine options)

I speak to 5 people a week with macs and a router, they all have an airport card. But I agree with Hardcore Rock in saying, get a real computer. I am just jelious of the macs because they are fater and more efficient than pc's but I HATE trouble shooting Mac's because I dont know what the hell im doing with them.
are you joking?.......it is a macintosh, has the apple!!!
Usually is a computer and monitor in 1...except for the new G4 and the older verions I think.
the programming is still done by microsoft, but the whole operating system is differant.

j/k. It wouldn't suprise me if there are no drivers written for the mac. For some reason, companies avoid the mac.
