Any other bodybuilders on here?

Here's me last weekend at the Atlantics here in Moncton, New Brunswick. It was a blast! I weighed in at 205 the night before. I'm 5'8" and placed 2nd in the havyweight category. Good times! As with car audio, I take bodybuilding to the extreme as well.... Obsessive? I'm in the blue trunks by the way...

Bodybuilding for 9yrs now and recently starting training others (to keep me busy in my off hours between work and volunteer and mostly because they begged me to which is quite nice).
I'm 5'10", 235lbs at ~9%bf right now. I don't do shows as I've never been interested in going that way with it personally but I do support my friends who do compete. I have six friends competing at this weekends Mississuaga, ON. show (Level 2 show) and one (who I also train full-time) competing at Provincials in London in June.

Congrats on your excellent work at the Atlantics. I hope you go as far as you want in this sport.

Thanks guys, it's alot of work and alot of stress to get lean that's for sure. Hardwrkr, those are some very impressive stats bro! You shuold try a competition, no doubt you'd do very well. Good luck to all your friends this weekend. You should throw up a few pics of yourself man. With stats like that, you must be a very large fella. My stats are 5'8", 29 years old, probably down around 5 or 6 percent bodyfat right now and still dieting for my next show this summer in 5 weeks. It's just a local show, but the overall gets $1000, so I think it's worth putting some effort into. I'm definitly hooked, and I bet you would be too if you dieted down for just one show!

So...... how do you guys even get started in bodybuilding?

Everyone I've seen/heard of that does that sort of thing devotes SO much time and energy in to it that I can't even see how they'd keep a regular job.

I played basically every sport growing up but when I was 19yoa I still only weighed 143lbs and I was 5'10" my first year of college. I knew heading into a Policing career that some extra size would be of benefit so I started hitting the gym each day at school. Ten years and almost 100lbs later.....

I've never touched steroids (although I've been asked by people if I could get them some and people often assume I'm on them). It's always the half assed lifters in the gym who talk the trash. They don't understand that maybe if they only worked a little harder they might actually grow too. I eat great, get decent sleeps, and work my *** off in the gym.

Anyways, as for the time thing, it's a lifestyle choice and you choose to make the time to eat properly and on time and to get your butt into the gym. I make a lot of bulk meals (I'll cook a bunch of fish, chicken and have enough to get me through a couple days) and if I'm working I'll prepare my next days meal the night before. It really doesn't take that much time. You just need to make a bit of an effort and have some dedication and goals that's all.
