my 300ZX TT is a point of discord amongst many of my friends. its doing about 420 hp at the crank...its fast by most standards. on slicks experienced drivers have taken these cars to 12.4's in the quarter mile with this power.
however speed is not enough and it needs sound. needless to say, appropriate sound damping, box, sub and amps all add performance deteriorating weight.
nonetheless i actually designed the entire system with the goal of obtaining the best SQ possible with the least amount of weight... fiberglass box rather than MDF, single high excursion sub rather than two and several other choices.
can a similar sounding system be put together that's lighter? i;m sure it can...just not by me.
i think the system has more to do with personal taste than anything else... for example there are 5 channel amps out there, for example the memphis belle or the kicker kx700.5 that offer more than enough power and clarity to run a stupendous sounding system, while keeping weight down... no additional power distribution blocks etc... i think you get the picture. if i were trying to minimize weight and still have a nice flexible system i'd surely consider a 5 channel amp.
sub selection is just as critical...serious research will be needed to find that perfect combination of weight/SQ and SPL. no quick answers though...
i could go on, but i think you may get the point...

I know I love mine. altho it is a VG30I, Nothing power wise like the VG30dett, but it has always started in cold weather.

Nice and clean. Its good to see people with a fast car driving stick..I couldnt stand to drive an automatic sports car....and it sickens me when people want an automatic.

there is no pro racing class the uses auto everything is manual rally, dragracing, nascar, lemans series, F1 all the big ones.
Auto is just easier to use for most people but and manual will allow you to get the most out of your car.
NASCAR(Non Athletic Sport Centered Around Rednecks)
