Anybody with legal info...

so i sold my buddy a car , he did sumthin with it and its in impound with a ton of fees. Now the cops called the last reg owner(he sold it 2 years ago) . The car has changed hands bout 4 times and the title was never changed. So i have to ask... i do not have a copy of my bill of sale but i have a witness who seen the cash change hands and both of us sign the bill of sale..

My question is, is that enuff to have a witness?

they shouldn't of been able to insure if they didn't change the title, and I don't know if a witness will be worth anything.

is the last "reg owner" you?

And is the papers in your name right now? Id beat some heads in if that many people had the car and the name never got switched, and id start at your "Buddy"

ALBERTA IS SCREWED!!!!!

The have the most idiotic system for buying, selling, and insuring vehicles over there! You don't even have to own the car to insure it, they will accept a hand written bill of sale too!
Go figure they have these and other problems!

Tell your friend to pay for it or put foot to a$$, you came here and asked the forum, didn't leave many details so we tried to figure it out. ( "I never said anything about a liecense plate or inshurance......." )

So why was he driving it around, without plates ( i guess, since you took yours off. Or was he on his plates from another vehicle? <--- if the later is the case and he's being a douche bag about it, if he cant find the bill of sale you signed, press charges for theft that he stole it.) A real friend that got the car impounded would man up and take responsibility.

Lesson learned.

Here, we register cars when we buy them, If you cant afford to reg a car don't buy it.

Well i couldnt get all the details cause to get them all u have to claim responsibility for the vehicle and untill you do ure in the dark. And i prefer beeing in the dark on this matter lol. i was just wondering if any1 knew if this would get me or not. And hes not my buddy no more i called him and told him to **** himself cause he said "I never baught no car from u , what u talkin about!" after i told him what had happened

I don't get it... he bought the car from you and it's paid for. He got it impounded and lost it. What's the big deal? You have your money, isn't the car being in impound his problem, no matter who it's registered to?

Sounds like drugs nobody wants to lay claim to. Unclaimed drugs in cars go to the owner around these parts.

There is definitely much more to the story here that we are not being told.
