anyone else into nitro rc
#1
since i posted a couple pics of one of my trucks,,,does anybody else enjoy these things. nothing is better than grabbing a jug of fuel and heading out somewhere and just bashing all day! we have some unreal sand hills here that i can guarantee no full size 4x4 could climb and they are a blast. i got 2 t maxx's, 1 buggy, 1 plane, and 1 electric helicopter,,,which is really testing my paitence(sp?. i just can't get more than a couple feet off the ground and it goes wild. i am really looking into geting a nitro boat this spring but i hear they are quite tempermental.

I used to have a Inferno RC car back in the day.... Loved that thing. we used a special blend of Nitro meth from the drag strip... I was the only one at dirt track with a "VP Racing Fuels" Jug of fuel....

I got an emaxx I bash around every once in a while .....got it when they 1st came out so it's a narrow maxx
It's pretty much stock
the factory speed controller was crap so I bought a couple novac rooster's and swapped out the 14.4 volt 350 motors for a couple 24 turn 7.2 volt 340's
the the spider gears in the rear diff went eventually, so I bought a spool for it
of course then I was twisting stock rear axles like pretzles all the time so I bought some metal cvd axles and some widemaxx rear a-arms(the only cvd's O could find are for the widemaxx chassis) ..so the back has a wider stance than the front right now, got to convert the front later
other than that the rest is all bone stock
I've never tried the nitro rc cause years ago when I was into rc back in highschool nitro was very unreliable and you spent more time trying to get your truck to run right than using it, but I hear they are a lot better now, might try one later

yeah been there, done all that hehe. thats just one the fun parts about these things...the wrench time. i was also all electric as well,,i just got into nitro 2 yrs ago, and i'm addicted. you should try a brushless setup in your emaxx,,,then you'll see some speed lol. oh btw, i think i got some arms and front turnbuckles to widen the front of your truck in my parts tub.
hey sq civic,,,what exactly was this fuel??

I used to own 2 electrics... and my dad used to own 3 gas boats... they were awesome! We used to spend whole weekends out on a deserted lake racing them.
That was a few years ago though.. I'd love to get back in to it with a nitro car or truck of some sort, but don't quite know where to start. (don't have the budget for it right now either)

I got 2 nitro trucks..
1 is the 1/8 4x4 GS Storm SUT with the 2.5 engine.. I have spent more time fixing this truck then driving it, its a complete dis-appointment and i strongly recommend not to buy one unless you like having to fix or replace stuff everytime you take it out.. its the worst $1200 investment w/ starter box and growing list of replacement parts I have ever made.
My other is a 1/10 Traxxas Nitro Rustler. I bought this used complete for $300. The previous owner switched all the swingarms / chassy to aluminum, it came with 3 complete sets of tires/rims, It does close to 50 mph on the pavement and its hard to control if ya gun it. I havn't spent a dime on it, fill it with fuel - charge the receiver 6v battery / charge the starter 7.2 battery and its good for a few hours of bashing. I have had it well over 6 feet in the air and it refuses to break..
My first RC car was a Losi JRx2.. I used to race competitivly and made the D-Main at the nationals in 1992, Racing head to head with Gill Losi Jr.. I spent so much time making that car as light as possible (Sanding / cutting) that i had to crazy glue a looney and a quarter to the chassis to meet the weight requirements.. the race annoncuer used to call it the buck25 car..
