Anyone using the Motorola KRZR phone?

Downloaded some of my music files onto it and they work fine in the player section but I can't seem to figure out how to get them to work as ringtones. They don't show up in the ringtones section.

don't quote me on this....but using bitpim....if you go into the file system and delete MyToneDB.db and TmpTneDB.db then reboot your phone, the audio filies should show up as rintones through the ring styles menu

If i'm wrong, the following thread should explain it all to you, however note that it's for the K1M (telus) KRZR.

Speaking with Motorola apparently Rogers last Fall blocked the option to use personal ringtones not downloaded from their website.
Corporate greed.
A few of the other carriers don't do this.

Superstar - thanks for the website. Only problem I'm having with this is that my K1 didn't come with a CD-Rom (I guess the K1M does) and because I don't have the Motorola Phone Tools I'm having a hard time getting Bitpim to recognize my phone. I've tried downloading what I believe I need from Motomodders and still can't get it to recognize the device.

If you have any other ideas I'm all ears.

Thanks

i have the same issue with my sammy 516. mine is due to them not being DRM files.
that COULD be the problem

Not really sure how to get around that if it is indeed the problem. I've heard of comverting the mp3's to mp4's worked for some models but I'm not having much luck making the convertors I've downloaded encode the few mp3's I'm trying to use to mp4's.
If you know a good encoder let me know.

I didn't much like the motorola phone tools and have never used them since looking at them. I just loaded the songs onto the phone via my mini sd card. Then copied the ones i wanted from there to the actual phone.

Getting BitPim to recognize the phone is always a bit of a task. I believe there's a few drivers listed through out that thread.

If it's Telus, you're pretty much SOL... they lock out all the features that cost them money (things that stop them from making money, selling you ring tones). So unless you hack the phone you cannot use them. I found this out after I spent some time making my own with the software they include with the phone only to find out they won't work...

I'm with telus, and it didn't take too much. Then again i've always been with telus, so going in through BitPim is nothing new to me. That could be considered a lot of work, but I like to mess around and change settings and get rid of annoying camera snapping sounds and what not.
