Yeah Minnesota rules! Anyway, this Schiavo thing has gotten way out of hand. Her parents just don't want to let go. Her husband claims she wouldn't want to live like that, and I for one believe him. How they managed to let her live for this long is beyond me. I am all for giving things a chance but after a year ago you need to face reality that the person is never going to get better. Who would want to live like that? The parents just don't want to let go. The fact is however, she died when she went brain dead in the first place. It's too bad they've made her suffer this long.

Why wouldn't you? You'll be dead. What on earth do you want to do with your heart once you're dead? lol!

Hell yeah! If you can giving someone a chance at living, do it!

As for assisted suicide. I feel they should have the right to die. They are going to die anyways. I mean, if I was dying, I'd want to say my goodbyes then have the plug pulled. I dont want to die a slow and painful death.

Small point - this is not ‘assisted suicide’ this is ‘death with dignity’ or a ‘living will’ issue

Both sides of this legal case are wacko, if she dies hubby (and hid GF) get $$$, mom and dad cant let go even though she will never come back from brain damage.

If this bothers you one way or the other, fix your will, if you have one, to reflect your wishes. If she had a will, and it clearly stated her opinion on assisted living, it would be the only way to say in this case "she would want us to do this".

I watched my father mentally wither away with Alzheimer’s... no way, no how, do I want to go through that, or anything like that... nor would I want my family to go through it.

I recommend organ donation, you might not make a lick of difference in the world alive but your death could save many.

Dave, I have to say I agree -- Euthanasia (that is what it is called -- hope I did not spell it incorrectly) is practised in Europe and other places for the reasons listed above summerized as thus:

- is her family trying to keep her alive out of love/ or guilt?

- organ donation can help many families

- what is more painful, to be hooked to a machine without any ability to interact with those you love, or to not exist at all?

- life is a gift; however, we should be allowed to choose how we live and whether or not we want to be tethered to a machine ad finitum.

selfish and narrow minded.

you could help a dozen people with organ donation.
</font>
To each their own. It's personal. I don't expect you or anyone else to understand. If it was family, it would be different. Leave it alone please this post is about Euthanasia and Schiavo(sp), not me.

It's not the same as the topic but my grandfather recently passed awaya, he was the type of guy who was always on the go had something to do as he was a farmer. I think it was about 5 years ago he had a stoke and took most of his ability away couldn't get around as easy had to use walker/cain etc etc...Even though he was happy when the family was together this was the only time he was truly happy.. He was 78 I think when he died.. The last 4 year did not make him happy one bit being stuck to his couch or just in the house having dizzy spells falling over it was just harsh that he had to go through it...It was unfortunate that he passed away however I look at it as he's alot happier now, he's not stuck to the couch or the walker he's back on his tractor's or combine's doing what he loved... The point of this is being in ur "death bed" or being stuck for life on a machine is the same as this, there not happy I think to a point no matter what condition your in you know your body and even though you can't express it, you'd rather be let go so that way you can enjoy your 2nd life being free again no relying on a machine to help you out or people to feel sorry for you... My grandfather was a very religous man *chatholic* so he's enjoy his new home up the sky! They need to let this Schiavo do the same it's her time to go and be free and happy again!

Not an organ donor, I just haven't got around to that yet.

Even if there is a chance of me surviving, let me go...I don't want to have to recover....learn to walk again or something like that....all my bills and insurance payments go to hell.

Screw that, there's no taxes in heaven/hell.
