my issue with this hole case is if she ever told her husband that she did not want to live like this why keep her alive and give her treatment for the first year? and then as soon as the lawsuit for malpractise is over suddenly stop and say she wanted it this way.....
if she said she didnt want to live liek this then the husband should have never let her continue to live in the first place...

It's nobody's business - the Schiavo case that is. It's like the abortion issue. It's up to the woman who is carrying the baby.
Religious people should stick their noses up their A$$es and mind their own business. Shouldn't they be more worried about where the hell they're going to end up? Wouldn't it be funny if what they thought was right was wrong? Religious people are ones who can't fathom the possibility of nothing happening after death - it litterally scares the hell out of them.
One thing is for sure, though. When I retire and have lots of time on my hands, I am going to push really hard for doctor assisted suicide. By the time I go (hopefully of old age), I don't want to waste food air and water on a body that's useless. I want my kids to remember me as a wild and crazy guy who lived life to the fullest. Not some withered away burden to society.

they should be more worried about the starving people that are still mobile instead of one that is'nt. i saw this thing on tv and seriously do these people have nothing better to do with thier effin time. buncha bleeding hearts with too much time on thier hands. it's the familys business not the world's, shut the hell up and go deal with your own problems.

First of all, no one here knows the particulars of what is happening. I have heard many different things about her being in a vegetative state. Her family claims she is conscious of her surroundings. Starving to death I am sure is not that painful, slowly dying is easily the least painful way of dying 
. Anyways whe won't starve to death, she will dehydrate first, and that is one of the worst things to happen to a person, I don't have the answers, but I do know that just stopping the intake of fluids and nutrients is something I would never wish upon anyone, no matter what their condition is.

With assisted suicide, she can die a painless death with dignity and all involved can move on and remember her for who she was rather than what she is now.
As stated before, nobody knows the true story and it really isn't our business. However, the topic was about assisted suicide.
If and when it becomes law here in Canada, the rules will have to be such that nobody can take advantage of the person affected by a deteriorating and painful condition. Up to now in Canada suicide is not illegal. As soon as someone helps a person kill him or herself, then it becomes an illegal act.

dwvw is right dehydrating to death im sure is not pleasent but niehter is living in a body that you cant control, you cant speak, you cant feed yourself, you **** into a bag, you cant clean yourself, you cant contribute. you are a financial and emotional burden on sociiety. she has been like this for 15 years, i dont think that she is going to get any better. get a doctor in and make her fall asleep and never wake up, painless and with dignity and her family at her side, its the only proper way

For whomever went on the religious tirade - what is truly amusing is how bent people like you are. Your obsession with discounting the beliefs of others shows your own fears.
Will it not be funny when you die and realize we were right? I'm guessing you won't see the humour.
If I die and am wrong, what do I lose? nothing.
The whole 'death with dignity' thing is way too touchy for politicians. Too many judgement calls to made based on the time the individual has been incapacitated, chances of recovery, etc. As mentioned, a living will is the best way to get your wishes across.

^^^ Actually that was me. I am not knocking people who are religious. I just hate the kind who go beyond and shove their beliefs down others' throats. If you want to be christian, fine. If you want to be a Muslim, fine. If you want to worship some other god, fine. If you want to believe in a certain life style, fine. Just don't go around pushing your views on others. BTW, I AM a person of faith. So, you assumed incorrectly. Religious does not exclusively mean you are Christian (now, did I assume correctly?). It is reserved for anyone who is a little more of faith than usual......... dictionary: adj. showing fervor in the practice of religion -- thesaurus: devout.

My "tirade" was a knee-jerk reaction - also a final straw, sick and tired of, gotta get it off my chest, kind of thing..... for that I apologize.
I remember as a child in public school having to listen to bible readings and forced to sing "Jesus Loves Me" every morning when I wasn't even Christian. It bothered the hell out of me, my parents, and others around me. My parents not knowing what to do, simply lived with it. I grew up in the Downtown Eastside (Vancouver). Strathcona Elementary - 95% or more Asian and First Nations population. A lot of us were not Christian, but were basically bombarded with......... nuff said. I'm glad they separated church from state - at least on the outside.
Again, the above is not a knock on Christianity - Nobody should have to apologize for who or what they believe in. Just giving examples of people pushing their beliefs on others. Isn't most of the wars on this planet over some religious issue?
Most theologians and learned religious leaders (not evangelists) never argue over who is right and who is wrong. They believe that all people need faith - being at peace with oneself.
