Chad, you might also want to try xylene or tolulene. I used that stuff to clean my floor in Nanaimo that all sorts of crud on it. Industrial Paints and Plastics has it.

Thanks Rob! Home Depot has toulene too. Supposedly makes for a very cheap, effective octane booster too Have you used either of those specifically on those white stains that battery acid leaves behind?

We used it on baked on glue and whatever other crap was under the carpeting. Worked real damn good but can you say respirator. Try Pauls idea first, I'll ask Ms.Tuner what she would use. She owns a condo rental business on the skihill with about 35 units and she has all sorts of .......stains on everything caused from ......pretty much anything and has some great stuff lying around the house.

Well your brother must be wearing a skirt because Ms.Tuner recommended baking soda and water.

toluene is good for making drugs when you are too cheap to buy either... lol... if you want a really cheap octain booster you should just try napthane....

seriously, a non polar solvent is not going to touch an acid or the salt produced from the acid...

Baking soda, water, and a lot of time is the only thing that will touch that stain... or a burnout..

Well sux are we done contemplating action... or has your brother finally shamed you into activity.

.... Out, damned spot! Out, I say! ~ Yet who would have thought the old battery
to have had so much acid in it? paraphrase of Lady Macbeth
