Big differance bud... Hes not losing his song, he still has it, you can get it for free on the radio too. the artist probably also has more money than you can dream of for doing what he loves.
Stealing someones car is completely different

haha i guess i walked right into that one ... but yea it really doesnt bother me if you like paying for your music or not .... hell us cheap a$$es need people like you to pay for it so that they make more for us to "steal" lol

but yea i was trying to say if its in front of you and you see other people going and taking it and not getting in trouble and you stop to think about the other side ( who your taking from) then yea sure then you can make a choice.. yours is i want to pay ... ours is them rappers and all have to much money as it is and they buy whatever, do whatever, and dont even get a slap on the wrist when they do something illegal. I dont think they need the extra few bucks from me. Now if there is a album i just LOVE then i will go out and buy it to support them, or if its a small band struggling to make it and there music is good then sure ill buy it.

P.S trying to watch tv and type same time... if something doesnt make sense or i ****ed up sorry ahaha

yeah, the other side has lots of money.. cause people pay them for their product. if nobody pays them for their product, then they won't have any money, and if they have no money, who will make a product?

I prefer to buy my CD's, Mp3s sound like ***

Im not sure how they work exactly
but using them is easy... I usually use www.torrentspy.com but there are more. you search on their search engine for movies, cds, programs etc. and you download the torrent file which when loaded into your torrent client will let you download the actual CD/movie etc that you want.
once you load the torrent you can also select which files in the torrent you want to download

For example. if you want to download only one song, you only select that song.

I think everyone forgets that musicans make alot of money outside of just selling records. Think about how much a concert ticket costs, thats like 10 cd's easily! They are fortunate that they get to live a life (of luxury) doing what they are most passionate about, and if that isn't why they are making music than fluck them; they don't deserve any cash at all. They should be happy that people enjoy their work, enough in some cases to attend concerts or pay for there music. (if it's good I don't mind paying, it just most stuff is garbage anyway) I don't really feel bad if someone who sings songs for a living makes the same salary as a cop or firemen. Same with movies: actors, directors, and hollywood producers don't even come close to earning their ridiculous salaries. I can't even remeber the last really good movie that I saw, and as long as producers insist on making 'Snakes on a Plane' bullshit, then I don't mind 'stealing' their work...

In Canada it is legal to download music and illegal to share music. I use winMX (Old version with the patch) and Limewire (as a second option for hard to find song's but winMX is usually better) and keep all sharing options closed.
It is illegal to both download and/or share movie's.

I don't understand how you can segregate the two. Downloading anything is in essence sharing it. Even if you are not the source of the file, wouldn't you be particpating in sharing of it, and therefore subject to persecution under the law? And why would the goverment say it is ok for music yet video is illegal? I know you probably don't have the answers but I just thought these questions need asking...

I was just looking at this article online. It does a pretty good job explaining. According to it:

* Downloading a song for personal use is not an infringement.

* Placing a song in an on-line music-sharing directory such as Kazaa is not considered distribution.
