Nah, not really. It deflects more, I guess, but it doesn't make that much difference.

I'd be kind of worried about the surround on a high SPL sub hitting that. It doesn't look like there is much room in between them. Looks like about a 1/4 of an inch on those. I have the Kicker grills and you get much more room between the sub and surround. That looks so close together on those.

It actually moves the most on the inner part where the surround attaches to the cone, which is lower than the top part of the surround, which doesn't actually move much.
