Blu Ray
Yeah, I don't know how compatible they'll be able to make super multi-layered discs with the current lasers their players use. And I really don't care for some of SONY's tactics, but blu-ray is just too attractive as far as space goes and the studio support it's getting to deny it will probably be the winner.
For any of you guys looking to pick up a Blu Ray player, take a good look at the PS3 @ Costco for $650. If HD DVD does win, the PS3 will still retain value as a gaming machine, or you can simply take it back to Costco for a full refund. I've never been a gamer, and never owned a game console before but this thing way cool with wifi, card readers, the hard drive, etc. etc. The picture is freakin awsome @ 1080i, and I would imagine even better @ 1080p. Another nice feature is you don't have to sit through previews at all, just pop the disk in and press play...
I bought it as a stand alone Blu Ray player and it is worth ever penny IMO. The nice bonus is that my kids can play video games if they wish.
I'm not a fan of Sony either but....
Go Blu-Ray!!!

Myself I have an hd-dvd player...well, my gf bought me the hd-dvd player add-on device for my xbox 360. Prob is, I still don't have a high def tv! lol I'm in the market for one but I just can't decide on what I want! (SO many deals this time of year...) Any suggestions guys? I'm looking at getting a dlp tv just because I have space, and the size to price ratio is better than that of lcds. (50+ inch dlp tvs are the same price as 37+inch lcds).
Yeah, if you want 50+ inches I'd go DLP. I went with a 40" LCD myself just recently. I almost got a DLP. The only thing I really didn't like was how so many people on websites talked about bulbs burning out prematurely or color wheels dying, etc... I think it's a great technology, but I'm still kind of worried that it's a little new. I'd say in 4-5 years though it will be the one to have. Although plasmas have also made great strides in the past couple of years.
The one thing that really drew me to my LCD was the viewing angles and brightness factor. They just get so much brighter. And even in my bedroom with the shades open and the sun beating in the picture is so bright. My projection CRT looks like *** when any amount of light leaks into the living room. And most DLPs I've seen don't look the best from angles off to one side or the other. I kind of feel like I had to be sitting pretty much in front of the TV to get the best picture when I looked in stores. LCDs and plasmas on the other hand look bright and vibrant from most any angle.

Well, blu-ray has already rejected to put **** on their format. At least that's where they stood last month. I don't know if things have changed since. Most people are saying **** won't have as big of an effect this time around as it did during the VHS/Beta wars. With so many people downloading **** from the internet and having **** already on DVD, a lot of people have agreed that **** in hi-def should really have little affect on a clear winner.
