bluetooth headphones

Hey folks,

With the purchase of my recent phone (which is essentially an IPOD cept with bluetooth), i'm lookin to buy some bluetooth headphones.

I would prefer ear buds....kinda outta the way....but can still sound decent. I'd like to wear them at work....and still be able to hear other things going on.....so they wouldn't cancel ALL outside noise.

I haven't really found much for the above, that don't have a string hanging betweent hem or something....does such a thing exist?

If i can't get those, then might as well go with something that does generally cover most of the ear but sounds pretty fantastic.

What can you folks suggest? I sorta looked through best buy n related, but didn't find much that impressed me. Alternatively, do y'all know any solid websites that have all sorts of different brands and comparisons and related?

Unhappy

Hate to say it, but my experiences with Bluetooth have not gone well. I have tried the top of the line Motorola, an Ericson and some generic cheapie I can't even remember the name of and they all sucked......

The problem seems to start with the mic placement. Because they are all trying to be so compact, the boom for the mike is so short that it is trying to catch your voice as it moves further away from the mic. This means your voice is in the middle of all the ambient noise around you, and the best noise-cancelling technology they can provide has a very hard time keeping your voice clear. Most people I spoke to on the BT headsets could tell right away that I had one because my voice was muffled and hard to understand. Raising my voice didn't help that much because the mic would over-modulate, causing more distortion......

The only break I got happened because I use BT in my van.....VTech makes a visor mounted BT device that works better than the headsets, but even it works better if the windows are closed......

As if that wasn't enough, the RF communication between the phone and the BT is subject to the same variations in signal quality and strength as your cell service itself. Around the GTA there are numerous areas where the cell service is as flakey as anything Kellog's has ever made..... My experiences have been with Rogers for the last few years, but my friends who use Bell, Telus and others tell me they are in much the same boat.....

As far as I can see, it's another great idea that was marketed before it was ready for prime time.

Best of luck finding one that works well.....if you do I'd appreciate hearing about it.........

I probably didn't explain that very well. I just want headphones. Don't really want a mic to talk into, i've already got bluetooth in my vehicle (though i haven't set it up with the new phone) and anywhere else i can just answer my phone.

I would however like ear buds just purely for music listening - be it i'm running (hah probably never happen - but a good example), or maybe at work....always rolling around to filing cabinets and - usually yank something off the desk when i'm wearing headphones.

If it has bluetooh it *should* be able to use any bluetooth accessory... that's basically the point of BT technology

I work at the source, and we have a pair of head phones that are BT. These are them...

Motorola Stereomoto HT-820 Bluetooth Headphones (pics, specs)

Now for some reason I can't find them on our website, but if you go into any source store they should have them, if they don't then im sure we can work something out. I've sold a few and not one has come back, so I'd imagine they work pretty well. I think it's a really smart idea.
